Olympic-sized gaslighting

“That wasn’t a depiction of the Last Supper, you uncivilized Cretan,” the leftists said in chorus about the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony’s depiction of a trans- and drag- and pedo-infused Lord’s Supper. “That was just Dionysus, the Greek demon god of drunkenness and madness, because that makes it so much better.”

And though it was clearly both to anyone with a working set of eyeballs, including the eyeballs that saw the obvious poses in mockery of Da Vinci’s Last Supper and the eyeballs who saw Barbara Butch’s Instagram story about a New Gay Testament, the left engaged in their classic “That’s not what you think, but now that you see that it is, it’s good that we’re doing it” routine, and I’m honestly wondering if it’s time for some Ecclesiastes 3 style time to tear down. And by tear down, I mean being okay with burning bridges with people who refuse to debate in good faith.

Even Andy Stanley?

These are, after all, the same people who have told us for four years that Joe Biden was “sharp as a tack” and totally with it, even though we could actively see him deteriorating even before his election.

But not only have we reached a fever pitch of gaslighting from the left, this was even too gay for Andy Stanley, who made a really good post on X that he unfortunately deleted (or unhitched from) for some reason.

What would possess a civilization to give such a middle finger to the religion that built it and the God who sustains it? It turns out that the French have been at this a long time, Notre Dame being repurposed into the Temple of Reason and all, so their glee-filled protest kinda checks out when it’s toward a God so mean that He [checks notes] doesn’t want men performing anal sex on each other and abhors when little boys have their penises split and inverted into their bodies, creating a permanent, open wound.

And don’t forget the child in the scene, because the plus in LGBTQIA2S+ is there because the P is hiding in plain sight. 

Naturally, they’ll mock the one true God, whose followers don’t exactly have a reputation for burning things down, Jenny Geddes’ throwing arm being an exception. If they had taken a dig at Islam, however, we’d be looking at Charlie Hebdo Part Deux.

An aside on Jesus and sinners

Before I go any further, I want to address what has to be the most hairbrained take I’ve seen from otherwise orthodox Christians, being that Jesus ate with sinners, so we shouldn’t be offended, or something.

And, yes, Christ ate with sinners, but He wasn’t their homeboy, and He called them to repent and sin no more (John 8:11). He didn’t attend their homoerotic dance parties in Paris.

Worldview death rattles

Herbert Stein, an economic advisor in the Nixon administration, gave us Stein’s Law, which brilliantly says, "If something cannot go on forever, it will stop." Not only must the alphabet nonsense stop due to the impending demographic bomb, but these people are miserable and know it, and the fact that they’ve finally tipped their hand at what they want to do to children is proving to be their unraveling. 

This is a biblical idea as well. Regardless of whether one takes the preterist or futurist view of 2 Timothy 3, Christians typically dwell on the vice list of how bad people will be in the last days, but we stop reading too soon.

“But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all.” - 2 Timothy 3:9a

So this can’t turn into some one-world religion that combines Christianity, Islam, and gayness, and good luck on forcing that on the residents of Kandahar, Pyongyang, or even Gaffney anyway. It’s a simple equation. Stupidity doesn’t work out in the long run. What we heard in Paris last week and what we’ve heard every June is the death rattles of the secularist worldview. Everybody sees how dumb this is, and they will turn in droves soon enough, just as soon as they realize that getting their rocks off is not the path to eternal joy, which we can offer them.

Just like gender, this is a binary issue. We should not be offended so as to preserve Christ’s status as one option among many in the modern Pantheon. Christ is Lord, full stop. Islam is at least kind of “inclusive,” at least on paper, and Hinduism and Buddhism are as syncretistic as they come. But Christianity and our modern secularist cult of individual sexual fulfillment are both totalizing worldviews. You are either with them or against them.

The more they mock, the more the Kingdom grows. The more the world sees the beauty of our Lord Jesus Christ and the ugliness of men in dresses and voluntary double mastectomies on 14-year-olds, the more they’ll flee the wrath to come and cling to the cross. If you don’t believe me, check your social media accounts for the groundswell of testimonies.

Take the W

They mock because they know they’re losing. Just think of the trash talk the demons flung at Jesus when He cast them out, which was all they could do. They can’t build; they can only destroy people and shout playground insults about your mom being ugly.

Remember, light drives out darkness (John 1:5). I don’t know about you, but I’ve never walked into a room, flipped a light switch, and then had the darkness say, “You know, I think I’ll stay.” That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of this works.

Christ promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against His church (Matthew 16:18). What runs through your mind when you hear that should not be the church defending against catapults and trebuchets before finally giving proof through the night that our cross spangled banner was still there. In fact, gates are defensive, so the Lord has put us on the offensive and has promised to crush Satan under our feet (Romans 16:20).

So let’s stop panicking. Whether it comes to a screeching halt or dies a slow, wasting death, Christ will take this W through the workings of His people in history. Let’s get to work.
